Can I complete all steps of installation myself?
Are there restrictions for locations of the units?
What is "Freeze Protection"?
What is included in the Jandy AquaLink Pool and/or Spa packages?
Are there different voltage actuators available or are they standard?
How do I choose which AquaLink is the one for me?

A licensed electrician must perform electrical work, but remaining steps are explained in the installation manual for do-it-yourselfers.

Because this is an electrical device, there are codes for installation regarding water. In the US, the panel must be at least five feet away from the inside wall of the pool and tub. In Canada, the code is three metres. Codes for other specs and countries are covered in the installation manual.

Freeze protection senses when the air temperature falls below 38 degrees F and automatically turns on the pump to circulate the water, thus preventing freezing of the pipes. (Freeze protection is adjustable to 34F) Other devices can be ‘assigned’ so that the freeze protection will also turn them on at the same time.

Pool and Spa packages include: Indoor Control Panel, up to 4 Power Center Bezels with Printed Circuit Boards, 2 Jandy Valve Actuators 24V, 1 Water Temperature Sensor, 1 Air/Solar Temperature Sensor, and all necessary 3HP relays required to operate system.

Pool or Spa only packages include: Indoor Control Panel, up to 4 Power Center Bezels with Printed Circuit Boards, 1 Water Temperature Sensor, and all necessary HP relays required to operate the system.

Systems require one or more power center, cable, or wireless kit.

The actuators come in 2 models, both working on the same valves, in the same way. The more popular one (that we use on the AquaLink RS, and Solar Control systems) is the #4424, a 24v Jandy valve actuator. The other is the #4412, 12v actuator.

The AquaLink RS system you choose will depend on the number of items that you want to control. This roughly corresponds to the number of buttons on the unit which decides the model number of the RS system. An AquaLink RS 6 would control 6 items (#1 being the filter pump. Do not count the heater). An RS 12 would control 12. The real question is: how many items do you wish to control? i.e. pump, cleaner, waterfall, slide, fill line, garden lights, etc.
